Welcome to the USS Argus

In a volatile area of space bordered by the Klingon's, Romulan's and the Federation itself - merely a stones throw away from the warmongering Gorn Hegemony, adding to the potential turmoil - Task Force 86, codenamed TRIDENT, stands ready to mount tactical, scientific, and clandestine operations within either enemy or neutral territory in order to oversee the safety of the Federation and the continued, though tenuous, stability of the entire region.

The USS Argus, an Ambassador Clas vessel, of the Task Group Proteus in Task Force 86. An older ship that is looking to re-exert its usefulness within Starfleet. Originally commissioned in 2340, it was decommissioned in 2355 in favour of the newer and more powerful Galaxy Class. However, with the Dominion War drawing on Federation resources, it was broughout out of mothballs for the War. After the war, it was transferred to Task Force 86 to continue its vibrant history of exploration, scientific discovery and military success. Will you make your mark on the history of the USS Argus?

Lieutenant Commander James Webb
USS Argus (NCC-63549)

As many of you may know, aside from being a simulation associated with Bravo Fleet we are assigned to Task Force 86, and within that Task Force we are assigned as one of 4 ships to Task Group Neptune.

Just letting everyone know that I've been appointed the CO of TG Neptune making us (unofficially) the Task Group "flagship". We currently have three other simms in the Task Group, two of which are inactive and I will try and get up and running. But, I'd like you all to feel that we have a role to fill as a model simm of activity and quality posting. Will be hard for me to rouse activity in other simms when we're slacking off.

I know it's summer and everyone is busy, but a log in every few days to keep up with what's going on and answer any tags will keep everything moving so that all of our crew mates will get ample opportunity to keep active. I am very understanding to any RL distractions - I don't need details, but if you're going to be away for a period of time, just drop me a quick message or e-mail to let me know an estimated time.

From now on, I am going to start removing players from the simm who have been inactive for more than a month without notifying me.

I wanted to be the first one to congratulate the crew of the Argus as winners of the August Simm of the Month! Keep up the good work gang.

I know the CO is having computer issues right now but that shouldn't stop you from doing some JP's, character development, etc. Keep doing the things that make the simm a great place to be.

Again guys, congrats!

» Dead Computer

Posted on Wednesday July 21st, 2010 @ 7:50pm by Commander James Webb in General News

Just to let everyone know I might be a little slow for a while, my computer decided to not work anymore - motherboard issues (don't buy an HP). Anyway, I've ordered my new laptop (an ASUS, woot woot). It's being shipped to me so I won't have it for just over a week, likely.

I will try and get online when I can to keep us moving along, but if anyone would like to get some "character-building" posts going in the meantime, that would be awesome. Have your way with them. I'd hate for this computer malfunction to possibly ruin our chances at claiming the SIMM of the Month for next month after we were so close this month. Keep up the activity, I will try and keep us moving forward and hope all is going well for all of you!

» SIMM of the Month Nomination

Posted on Monday July 19th, 2010 @ 11:32pm by Commander James Webb in General News

Just like to inform and thank all of our crew for a recent "SIMM of the Month" nomination we received for June. Reasons for the nomination cited "ongoing quality of posts from her crew." Congratulations to the USS Achilles who thoroughly deserved the award. As proud as I am of all of you, the Achilles had its CO and XO go MIA and the crew of the ship were able to salvage it and make it once again an active and fantastic SIMM, so hats off to them.

This (near) award is very inspiring for me to keep up the great work with all of you, and I hope we can continue to provide some great posts as we go onward.

Again, keep up the great work. I'm extremely proud to be the CO of this ship.

» Activity and Expectations

Posted on Wednesday June 30th, 2010 @ 2:49pm by Commander James Webb in General News

Just to get off on the right foot, and to not mistake anyone for inactivity. I can monitor when people log in to judge everyone's activity aside from posting. I would like a minimum of 1 post from everyone per week (this is a very low expectation, I know). However, more posts will warrant awards/promotions etc. (overall though, think quality over quantity)

Anyway, there will be penalties for not meeting the minimum requirements without contacting me in advance.

This is not inspired by anything in particular, but just before we get too far into anything I do want to lay down some expectations for everyone so that we can keep an active and enjoyable simming atmosphere for everyone. The worst thing is to be running a JP with someone and just have them suddenly go AWOL. Acts like this can stall the entire simm and in some cases I have witnessed them bring inactivity to an entire ship and I don't intend for that to happen to us :)

Keep up the activity so far, I'm absolutely ecstatic with how well everyone has been doing so far!
